This side event summarized the dramatic changes already occurring in polar oceans today, and outlined the global consequences of continued fossil fuel emissions. Leading scientists explained the necessary policy-level action required to manage and safeguard against these potentially devastating outcomes. Dr. Sian Henley, University of Edinburgh, moderated this event. Speakers include Dr. Stefanie Arndt, Alfred Wegener Institute; Dr. Letizia Tedesco, Finnish Environment Institute; and Dr. Elizabeth Shadwick, CSIRO Environment.
