Geneva-Hosted COP-26 Hub Event: “Upscaling adaptation solutions for vulnerable mountain regions through international cooperation”

Released as an online-only event from the Geneva Hub, this session discussed the potential barriers to uptake as well as the possible enablers to applying solutions to adapt to climate change in mountain regions. Speakers emphasized social vulnerability and the facilitating role of international organizations to tackle cryosphere-related disasters. They also introduced the teaser trailer for the “The Last Glaciers” documentary released shortly after COP26, exploring the relationship between climate change, mountain environments, and glaciers.

This session was moderated by Dr. Julia Barrott from Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) Oxford. Speakers include Dr. Daniel Kull, World Bank; Dr. Simon Allen, University of Geneva; Sabine McCallum, United Nations Environment Programme; Dr. Graham McDowell, University of Zurich and University of Calgary; and Craig Leeson, Director of The Last Glaciers environmental documentary.
