<\/b>Apply to host a side event at the COP30 Cryosphere Pavilion<\/span><\/b><\/h3><\/div>\n

<\/b>Side Event Application Process<\/span><\/b><\/h4><\/div>\n

ICCI will coordinate COP30 Cryosphere Pavilion activities, in strong cooperation with various partners, including lead organizing partners for various focus days (as listed below).<\/p>\n

The Pavilion will carry forward the cryosphere\u2019s message towards urgent ambition with another strong array of policy-relevant side events at COP30. Our assigned space this year will again combine exhibit, side event and office space in a single consolidated Pavilion in the Blue Zone, and is taking place in coordination with Ambitioner p\u00e5 sm\u00e4ltande is<\/a><\/strong> Co-chair Iceland. Breadth is strongly encouraged: scientists, Indigenous peoples, Youth and all those who participate in these side events help raise cryosphere impacts and the need for 1.5\u00b0C-consistent NDCs as we head for COP30 in Brazil this fall. 2025 is also the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation (with a strong focus on ties to downstream water resources) and the beginning of the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences. In recognition of those initiatives, we will focus on the importance of science to inform emissions goals, especially the urgently needed transition from fossil fuels.<\/p>\n

There will be six or seven one-hour slots each day, with sufficient breaks to allow set-up of the next event. A full list of this year’s eight Focus Days can be found near the bottom of this page. Instructions for side event applications are directly below.<\/p>\n

Proposals for side events should be submitted as emails or word documents by Monday, September 1 (earlier applications most welcome) to Amy Imdieke at amy@iccinet.org<\/a> with the email subject line: “COP30 Cryosphere Pavilion: Side Event Application”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

<\/b>Proposals should include the following information and observe the length requirements:<\/span><\/b><\/h4><\/div>\n\t
\n\t\t\n

1. Focus Day designation (or “Days”, if interdisciplinary); see list below.<\/p>\n

2. Proposed title (100 characters)<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. Brief<\/strong> event description (500 characters maximum)<\/strong><\/p>\n

4. Proposed speakers and\/or participating institutions\/governments; including whether on-site or virtual. Strong preference will be given to in-person events, followed by hybrid events. Entirely virtual events unfortunately cannot be considered except in extraordinary circumstances.<\/p>\n

5. Preferred dates, if any. Kindly note if you are limited as to potential dates.<\/p>\n

6. Accreditation needs, if any (number of needed badges). Please note: ICCI is committed to helping successful event organizers obtain accreditation; however, preference will be given to those able to secure their own COP29 badges for on-site participants.
