Under perioden mellan 1993 och 2024 steg den globala havsniv\u00e5n med \u00f6ver 11 cm, med \u00e5rliga hastigheter som \u00f6kade fr\u00e5n 2,1 mm\/\u00e5r 1993 till 4,5 mm\/\u00e5r 2023. Om den nuvarande banan helt enkelt forts\u00e4tter, kommer havsniv\u00e5h\u00f6jningen att \u00f6ka till 5,0 mm\/\u00e5r till 2030, 5,8 mm\/\u00e5r till 2040 och 6,5 mm\/\u00e5r till 2050. Detta inneb\u00e4r att havsniv\u00e5erna skulle stiga ytterligare 17 cm globalt under de kommande tre decennierna, bara genom att f\u00f6lja nuvarande trender.
