本周COP29视频:消失的海冰——它对我们的海洋和生态系统的意义

Sea ice is a unique, fundamental, and fragile habitat in the Arctic and Antarctic. Rising temperatures decrease its thickness and extent, pushing delicate marine environments out of balance with global consequences. Science and policy experts discussed ongoing and future changes in Arctic and Antarctic sea ice, their effects on polar ocean ecosystems, and current preparedness for these changes. Precautionary principles and strong regulatory frameworks are crucial to ensuring the long-term health of these regions. Speakers include moderator Dr. Letizia Tedesco, Finnish Environment Institute; Dr. Stefanie Arndt, Alfred Wegener Institute; Dr. Josephine Rapp, REV Ocean, Norway; Dr. Jacqueline Stefels, University of Groningen; Dr. Sian Henley, University of Edinburgh; and Dr. Marcello Vichi, University of Cape Town. Note: some of the on-site COP29 portions of this video have competing noise, but the several virtual presentations have clear sound.
