OUR CHILDREN, THEIR GRANDCHIDREN:<\/strong><\/p>\n

If today’s fossil fuel emissions continue, and certain instabilities kick in on the Antarctic ice sheet, the IPCC has estimated* that sea levels might accelerate greatly late in this century, leading to around 1.7 meters sea-level rise in 2100, and between 4-5.5 meters in 2150.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These are no longer distant estimates.<\/strong> Our own children \u2013 those living today between the ages of 5 and 15 \u2013 would experience these extreme sea levels in their elder years, between the ages of 80 and 90.<\/p>\n

And in turn, their grandchildren \u2013 our great-grandchildren, at least those born between 2060 and 2070 \u2013 would see 4 meters when they reach that same age.<\/p>\n

Most of these devastating sea levels would come from Antarctica.<\/strong><\/p>\n
