Latest research shows that the northern circumpolar permafrost region is already warming the global climate. While boreal forests remain a carbon sink, increased carbon dioxide and methane emissions from inland waters, wetlands, thawing permafrost and fires recently tipped this region into a net source of warming. Speakers included Dr. Gustaf Hugelius, Stockholm University, Bolin Centre of Climate Research; Dr. Jennifer D.
