极端高温加速冰层流失,导致格陵兰冰盖加速融化

格陵兰北部今年的气温比往年同期偏高 5-7°C(10°F);上周,连续三天的极端高温导致该地区迅速融化,这个地区即使在夏季的大部分时间里,气温通常也低于冰点。7 月 15 日至 17 日期间,格陵兰冰盖向海洋释放了 60 亿加仑的融水,足以填满 720 万个奥林匹克标准游泳池,或者让整个西弗吉尼亚州覆盖一英尺深的水。格陵兰岛本世纪冰层流失的速度将超过过去 12000 年任何一个百年的消耗速度。随着全球气温的上升,格陵兰岛冰层快速流失及由此引起的海平面上升,对世界各地的沿海社区构成迫在眉睫的威胁。到本世纪末,北极融水可能导致全球海平面上升超过一米,危及生活在低洼地区数的百万人口。.
