Focus Days Schedule for the COP7 Cryosphere Pavilion

30 September 2022

Dear Cryosphere Capsule readers:

We are happy to share the Focus Days schedule for the COP27 Cryosphere Pavilion! Each day will include up to seven side events, focused on the latest cryosphere science; the implications of these findings for climate urgency and ambition; and looking also at model low emissions pathways and solutions. All side events will also be livestreamed and recorded for later viewing.

The preliminary Focus Days schedule:

Sunday, November 6: High Level/State of Cryosphere
Mon 7: High Level/Ice Sheets and SLR I
Tues 8: HKH/Mountain Glaciers and Snow I
Wed 9: HKH/Mountain Glaciers and Snow II
Thurs 10: Polar Oceans
Fri 11: Permafrost
Sat 12: Solutions I
(Sunday, November 13: COP27 venue closed)

Monday, November 14: Sea Ice
Tues 15: Ice Sheets and SLR II
Wed 16: Cross-cutting/State of Cryosphere
Thurs 17: Mountain Glaciers and Snow III/African and tropical glaciers
Fri 18: Solutions II

Many thanks to everyone contributing to the Pavilion’s upcoming side events. We greatly appreciate your work to elevate cryosphere science and motivate emissions reductions, and look forward to seeing you in person or virtually at Sharm El Sheikh! More information will be posted periodically on our website: https://iccinet.org/cop-27-cryosphere-pavilion/, including the final side event and livestream schedule.

Our normal “capsule” coverage of cryosphere science will return next week.
